I created Surreal Cinema and this website to service my Clips4Sale account, recruiting models for fetish and adult video. Clips4Sale goes back many years (in terms of Internet years) and has really lost its appeal. Now there are numerous websites giving away free movie clips in exchange for looking at some banner advertisement. Surrealcinema.com sat pretty much unused for a long while.

My main site is hbutz.com, which I created over 20 years ago with notepad and a book on HTML programming. I have updated the photographs and my style a couple of times. My roots are classic fine-art B&W photography; but, as digital cameras matured I created two venues. One project is the digital distorted nudes which has been in a few art galleries in New York and still featured on hbutz.com. The other 1-year project was The Four Seasons which is the primary focus of henrybutz.com.

Both of these projects, along with my B&W fine-art photography are on-hold as it is time for something new. From the murky depths of obscurity the Internet has brought to the surface sadomasochism aka bdsm. Personally for me, as I photograph hundreds of models over the years I am introduced to all kinds of fetishes, lifestyles, and kink. The strange. I like strange. Normality can suck the life out of you. Give me kinky bad girl any day.

More specifically, over the past five years I have shot more fetish photography than ever. With an explosive growth of new photography, my grass roots website hbutz.com was just not able to handle the torrent. What I needed was some powerful scripts and computing power. Surrealcinema.com fills that need.

I am now able to drag and drop dozens of photographs from my desktop to the website and post them with just a few mouse clicks. What you see here are my "first cuts" - these are the images which catch my eye at the end of the photo shoot which say a) These are good images and b) These are unique.

They're certainly not the best. The "best" photograph is that once in a lifetime shot which will never come my way again. This leaves dozens if not hundreds of unknown photographs on my hard drive, which are likely to vanish when I depart this world. The vision of surrealcinema.com is to give you a glimpse at my life and participate with me as I enter my golden years before vanishing into oblivion.

I needed to tone down the splash page for Surreal Cinema so I removed the link to the video clips. It may be found at

Whoever came up with the doctype for HTML5 encoding is really arrogant, aren't they? It's simply "!DOCTYPE html". Where, HTML4 encoding is "!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd . See what they did there? Someone decided that HTML5 will be so well defined we only need to declare it with a single word, "html".

When I created hbutz.com, I used a simple text editor (notepad) and an HTML reference manual. I was using the Mosaic browser (1993-1997), Netscape version 0.91 (pre-1994), and the "Hippie" editor.

I had my website up before Bill Gates created microsoft.com. Microsoft created their website, after I created mine, and introduced their "Internet Explorer." To encourage people to use MIE, they carefully crafted their website's HTML to crash Netscape. The first shots had been fired at the start of Great Browser Wars.

During the war, HTML standards slowly came into existence. Where the first statement of every webpage used to be a simple HTML tag, this was replaced with a doctype tag to define which HTML standard the coding adhered to. This helped, but did not guarantee that the web browser you were using could understand it. Even to this day you see pop-up warnings which say YOU are using an outdated browser or THEIR website is "best viewed" with a browser you are not currently using.

It's a 20yo joke which I still don't get. Create a damn HTML coding standard and stick with it already. Perhaps HTML5 will be the answer. The problem is, cough, none of my websites have doctypes. They don't have language or encoding standard specified either. ugg. i mean, why bother?

Well, those days are here, my friend. I am finally bringing my websites up to code - mostly v4 transitional with a sprinkle of v5. HTML5 offers some neat features such as embedded video which greatly simplifies streaming content. I'm looking forward to updating my modeling application form using HTML5. But, oh - what a pain.

Simple tags such as nobr and center are gone. Table attributes have all been erased and replaced with style tags. It took me a while to understand the syntax of the style tag, but I'm catching on and it is quite clever. but, oh - all those table tags and formatting. I'm only encoding a few pages to HTML5 since it's such a pain.

What you should see is not much of a change to the websites - perhaps a font being increased or decreased in size at most. If you are using a UTF16 browser and have been seeing a lot of junk, this update should set you straight. I hope the language tag will help to translate the text as well. All of this is very exciting to work under the hood to give the websites some much needed infusion of improvements.

As for content.... hbutz.com has stalled on the Four Seasons Project. I created henrybutz.com to bring together all the great images from that year-long project and wanted to display it in an art gallery. However, there have been no takers. As look for my "next big thing," I am using Surreal Cinema to bring on-line all my best, all my worst, and all the shit I have sitting around on my hard drive. Surreal Cinema is unabashed and represents me, all the energy and craziness from which art is forged... before it's "art."

Before it's "art," it's swirling rivers of flesh, pornography, colors, and passionate energy. It is... Surreal.

enjoy.

In addition to subscribing to the forum by email, which requires exposing an email address, here are a few ways to keep in touch with Surreal Cinema and my other websites.

This forum generates an ATOM format newsfeed at http://www.surrealcinema.com/forum/feed.php If you open this link in Firefox or Internet Explorer you will be prompted to add "Live Bookmarks" or "subscribe." The Live Bookmark allows you to click on your bookmark link and scan for updates passively without revealing any personal information or your email address. I use this myself to keep an eye on this forum.

There are also free Feed Readers and News Aggregators if you prefer a stand-alone version.

Limited by the 140 character limit, I make occasional announcements on my Twitter feed https://twitter.com/henrybutz If you don't have Twitter, sign up - it's free and it's fun.

Art gallery exhibitions are far less frequent but you can check out my mainstream endeavors at http://www.henrybutz.com/ Right now I am looking for a venue for The Four Seasons project.

If you're a model visiting or residing in the Long Island or NYC vicinity who would like to pose for me, be sure to stop by http://model.hbutz.com/ My specialty is female nudes so being female and offering to pose nude greatly increases your odds of a positive response.
